Funeral services were held at the First Presbyterian Church, Port Jervis, at two p. m., yesterday for Ralph E. Wright, general manager of the New York, Ontario & Western Railway. Mr. Wright died Saturday at his summer home near Livingston Manor. In the railroad business since he was 16, Mr. Wright was named general manager of the O&W in January 1953, assuming managership duties formerly handled by the railroad’s trustee in reorganization. He continued to serve also as general superintendent, a post he has held since 1952.

He was appointed general superintendent to succeed Fred Hawk of Middletown who retired after 50 years in the railroad business. Mr. Wright’s headquarters were in Middletown, but he maintained his home in Port Jervis. He entered the service of the O&W on November 18, 1907 as a telegraph operator. He became the assistant general freight agent 1/1/1941. Mr. Wright is survived by his wife, the former Clara D. Heller, a daughter Mrs. Theodore Kuykendall of Port Jervis, NY and a son John M. Wright of Liverpool, NY. Two brothers, Clarence of Livingston Manor and Harry of Liberty, NY survive.
