I got a call from the Stourbridge Line a few minutes ago and need to get some flash news out to membership! Here as well is a recent photo of a Stourbridge Line train if you can fit it in. Thanks. Dan
“The excursion scheduled for October 10 is still on, but due to track conditions below Hawley we will need to board at 12 NOON at HONESDALE. The line below Hawley is currently out of service.
The railroad sincerely regrets the need for a change but we will be getting a longer excursion (1.5 hours) for the same money and the railroad has set aside a restored, open-window Jersey Central coach for us.
If you have already made your reservation, the railroad will be contacting you about the change. Make sure to advise them that you are with the Ontario and Western Group and they will direct you to the Jersey Central coach.
If you are making a new reservation, call the railroad directly instead of making an online reservation. The train is the Glen Eyre Express from HONESDALE at NOON on SUNDAY the 10th.
The direct ticketing number is: (570) 470-2697. Make sure to tell the agent you are with the O&W Society and they will seat us together.
The Stourbridge Line called the D&H Canal Museum on our behalf and advise that the museum will be open on that Saturday for those who wish to visit the museum on their own and see the replica of the Stourbridge Lion which was built for the 1939 World’s Fair.”
